The new law, CFR29 part 1926 Cranes and Derricks in Construction, published in early august becomes effective 8th November 2010. This is a large document, however we strongly recommend that all stakeholders in the crane industry read it very carefully and ensure they fully understand the requirements that are pertinent to their area of activity.

Insulatus is concerned with the activity of cranes working in proximity to power lines and the products we offer are the last line of defense in the event of contact with energized powerlines. Insulating links are mandated in the law and so are the use of non-conductive tag lines.

Our insulating link the Load Insulator, which is already listed by UL to their standard ELRK will soon be assessed to the new ANSI standard UL2737. This process is awaiting a Nationally Recognized Test Laboratory to be given the scope to test to this new standard.

Our Tagline Insulator is a perfect solution to the requirement in the new law that tag lines, where used near overhead power lines, are of a non-conductive type. The law recognizes that non-conductivity can be compromised by damp or dirt resulting in the tag line being conductive and non-compliant with the law. The fitment of the Tagline Insulator ensures compliancy and personnel safety.
